Well done, Ladies on the CAT Walk!
21-23 Feb 2024: Asian Tigers & Silk Relo Singapore proudly embarked on a journey of corporate social responsibility – sponsoring a team of 6 staff to take part in a Citizen Action for Tigers (CAT) Walk program by the Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers (MYCAT). MYCAT is at the forefront of efforts to safeguard Malaysia's dwindling tiger population and their habitats. Their CAT Walks are supported by volunteers who hike on specific routes along the Sungai Yu ecological corridor identified by MYCAT researchers and the authorities as poaching hotspots.
On 21 Feb, our Singapore team spent a day travelling up to Merapoh, Pahang. They began their 6-hour hike the next morning, helping to look out for traps/snares, maintain camera traps, and deter poachers with their presence. On their final day, they contributed to reforestation efforts along the ecological corridor by planting saplings of species important to wildlife, before making the long journey home.
